Four Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the top ten and three class podium finishes at Paul Ricard

After second and third place in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Monza and second place at Silverstone, the teams with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 again showed a strong team performance at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. The #88 Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP with Adam Christodoulou (GBR), Thomas Jäger (GER) und Raffaele Marciello (ITA) secured the best result for the twelve cars from Affalterbach by finishing fourth. In the six-hour race that remained thrilling until the end, three further Mercedes-AMG GT3 made it into the top ten with the #35 (SMP Racing by AKKA ASP), the #44 and the #43 (both STRAKKA Racing). In the classes, Customer Racing Teams were able to celebrate: in the Pro-Am and the Am-category as well as in the Silver Cup, there were podium finishes for the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport continues its string of success in the Blancpain GT Series: in the second event of the Endurance Cup at Silverstone, the #88 Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP entry with the driver trio of Adam Christodoulou (GBR), Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and Tristan Vautier (FRA) secured a strong second place. With the #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of the Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON in sixth place and the #43 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of STRAKKA Racing in eighth, two further cars from Affalterbach made it into the top ten. Victory in the Silver Cup by the #6 BLACK FALCON Mercedes-AMG GT3 and a 1-2 in the Pro-Am class by #49 RAM Racing and #42 STRAKKA Racing rounded out the good team result.

Mercedes-AMG with a double podium finish in Nürburgring 24-hour race

Mercedes-AMG has successfully completed the 46th ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen. After third place last year, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 now even scored a double podium finish in the legendary Eifel marathon. Second place goes to Adam Christodoulou (GBR), Maro Engel (GER), Manuel Metzger (GER) and Dirk Müller (GER) of the Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON. On a rain-soaked track, Yelmer Buurman (NED), Thomas Jäger (GER), Jan Seyffarth (GER) and Luca Stolz (GER) drove to third place with the #5 sister car. Next to the double podium finish, there also were two further top ten results in the overall classification at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, as well as two convincing class victories by Mercedes-AMG GT4 cars that participated in the 24-hour race for the first time.

With 3h30m remaining, the 46th ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen was interrupted because of the poor visibility conditions at the Nürburgring and the Nordschleife. At this time, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport was clearly in the lead and had three further cars in the top ten. If and when the race can be resumed prior to the scheduled finish time at 15.30 hrs is yet unknown.

The 46th ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen is facing a hot final part. During the night, rain had made conditions at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife even more difficult and caused changes in the ranking. With 18 hours completed, four of the seven Mercedes-AMG GT3 that have started are in the top ten. Currently, the #4 car of the Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON has the best perspective in the battle for a podium finish. Since the halfway point of the race, it has regularly been racking up laps in the lead. The three Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the race also still have good chances in their respective classes.

In this evening’s top 30 qualifying, the seven Mercedes-AMG GT3 secured themselves good positions for the endurance racing classic that will get underway on Saturday (12 May) at 15.30 hrs. In the battle of the 30 best teams at the Nordschleife, Maro Engel posted the fourth-fastest time (8m09.916s) behind the wheel of the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON entry. Daniel Juncadella (ESP) in seventh place, Maximilian Götz (GER) in eighth and Yelmer Buurman (NED) in ninth place also made it into the top ten of the shootout.

All Mercedes-AMG GT3 qualified for top 30 shootout

The participants for the top 30 qualifying have been determined: this evening, all seven Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be taking on the shootout at the Nürburgring. In second qualifying on Friday afternoon, the three GT3 cars from Affalterbach that weren’t qualified yet also managed to secure their slot for the spectacular shootout. The three Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the field also completed their qualifying sessions with good class results: first place for the #190 (Mercedes-AMG Team Driving Academy), third place for the #66 (BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA) and fourth place for the #75 (Mathol Racing e.V.). Prior to second qualifying, the Mercedes-AMG Fan Base in the Nürburgring paddock attracted the crowds: the official Mercedes-AMG autograph and interview session lured numerous visitors to the experience world.
