Mercedes-AMG GT3 with good starting grid positions for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring

The starting grid positions for the 46th ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen have been allocated. In this evening’s top 30 qualifying, the seven Mercedes-AMG GT3 secured themselves good positions for the endurance racing classic that will get underway on Saturday (12 May) at 15.30 hrs. In the battle of the 30 best teams at the Nordschleife, Maro Engel posted the fourth-fastest time (8m09.916s) behind the wheel of the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON entry. Daniel Juncadella (ESP) in seventh place, Maximilian Götz (GER) in eighth and Yelmer Buurman (NED) in ninth place also made it into the top ten of the shootout.

All Mercedes-AMG GT3 qualified for top 30 shootout

The participants for the top 30 qualifying have been determined: this evening, all seven Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be taking on the shootout at the Nürburgring. In second qualifying on Friday afternoon, the three GT3 cars from Affalterbach that weren’t qualified yet also managed to secure their slot for the spectacular shootout. The three Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the field also completed their qualifying sessions with good class results: first place for the #190 (Mercedes-AMG Team Driving Academy), third place for the #66 (BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA) and fourth place for the #75 (Mathol Racing e.V.). Prior to second qualifying, the Mercedes-AMG Fan Base in the Nürburgring paddock attracted the crowds: the official Mercedes-AMG autograph and interview session lured numerous visitors to the experience world.

At the Nürburgring, the battle for the starting grid positions for the 24-hour race got underway with a thrilling first qualifying. In the nighttime session, Raffaele Marciello (ITA) posted a time of 8m19.293s in the #11 Mercedes-AMG GT3, the second-fastest time of the entire field. Thus, the Customer Racing Team AutoArena Motorsport made a big step towards the top 30 qualifying that is scheduled for Friday evening. The #4 BLACK FALCON Mercedes-AMG GT3 also has good prospects of securing a starting grid position among the best teams after ending up with the sixth-fastest time in first qualifying. The final decision about the slots for the shootout will only follow after second qualifying on Friday afternoon. Four Mercedes-AMG GT3 (#4, #5, #47, #48) have already secured their position for the shoot-out of the best 30 cars.

Mercedes-AMG ready for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring

The on-track action for the 46th ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen has started. In first free practice that took place with changeable track conditions, the cars from Affalterbach were able to rack up valuable mileage at the Nordschleife and continue to develop their set-ups for the race. In the process, it was Tristan Vautier (FRA) who posted the fastest practice lap time of the total of seven Mercedes-AMG GT3: he put the #16 Landgraf Motorsport car in fourth place in the field of around 150 cars.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport enjoyed a perfect conclusion to its preparations for the 24-hour race: Victory and third place for the number 5 and 47 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the ADAC Qualification Race for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. The remaining Mercedes-AMG GT3 ended the six-hour race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in eighth and tenth place to round off a fine team result.
