Mercedes-AMG with good title perspectives in IMSA finale at Road Atlanta

During ‘Petit Le Mans’, the grand finale of the IMSA series at Road Atlanta, teams with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and GT4 cars can crown their strong season performance: in the GTD class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the Mercedes-AMG Team Riley Motorsports is in third place and thus has a good perspective in the battle for the title. Chances in the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup (TPNAEC) are even bigger: in 2017, the drivers with the #33 Mercedes-AMG GT3 already won this prestigious endurance title. In the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 will conclude a rather successful debut season, in which the Team TGM is on the verge of winning the title. Both with the GT3 and the GT4, Mercedes-AMG is among the title candidates in the respective manufacturers’ standings.

A 1-2 and a class win for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife

The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Teams showed an outstanding performance in the Eifel today: AutoArena Motorsport wins the eighth VLN round with the #13 Mercedes-AMG GT3 and driver pairing Dominik Baumann (AUT) and Patrick Assenheimer (GER). SPS automotive-performance completes the 1-2 at the Nürbugring-Nordschleife with Edoardo Mortara (ITA) and Renger van der Zande (NED) with starting number 10. In the SP10 class, there is reason to celebrate as well: the BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA makes it to the finish of the 50. ADAC Barbarossapreis as the class winner with the Mercedes-AMG GT4 with starting number 163, Hubert Haupt, Stefan Karg, Fidel Leib and Moritz Oberheim (all GER) already scoring their fourth class victory of this year’s VLN season.

Mercedes-AMG with octuple title win the most successful brand in Blancpain GT Series

Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing scores a 1-2 in a frenetic Blancpain GT Series finale. Moreover, teams and drivers with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 claimed a total of six championship titles in the final round of the season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. With two further titles from the Sprint Cup finale a fortnight ago, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach can be acknowledged as the most successful manufacturer in the biggest sports car series. Raffaele Marciello (ITA) came out on top in the drivers’ standings after finishing second in the three-hour season finale together with Tristan Vautier (FRA) and Daniel Juncadella (ESP). The drivers’ title in the separate Endurance Cup went to Yelmer Buurman (NED), Maro Engel (GER) and Luca Stolz (GER), who claimed the race win in the Blancpain finale with the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON entry.  In the Silver Cup, Nico Bastian (GER) and Jack Manchester (GBR) of the AKKA ASP Team secured thetitle. The Pro-Am drivers’ title in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup went to drivers Lewis Williamson, Chris Buncombe und Nick Leventis (all GBR).  In the thrilling concluding race of the season, the AKKA ASP Team came out on top in the final teams’ standings. With their 1-2 at Barcelona, BLACK FALCON and the AKKA ASP Team also ended up first and second in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.

Title success for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the league of the super sports cars

MANN-FILTER Team HTP Motorsport wins the teams’ classification of the 2018 ADAC GT Masters. In the thrilling finale at the Hockenheimring, the two Mercedes-AMG GT3s with Maximilian Götz and Markus Pommer (both GER) as well as Maximilian Buhk (GER) and Indy Dontje (NED) secured the title in the teams’ competition with a margin of 25 points. In the drivers’ standings, Götz and Pommer had to accept a considerable setback: Götz having secured the best situation in the battle for the drivers’ title with pole position, he became innocently involved in a collision on the opening lap of the final race and thus lost all his title chances together with teammate Pommer. The duo Buhk/Dontje with the #48 Mercedes-AMG GT3 claimed third place in the race on Sunday and thus concluded a successful season in the league of the super sports cars.

Overall and class victory for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport in seventh VLN round

Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team BLACK FALCON scores its second overall win of the 2018 VLN season. After 28 laps of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Maro Engel, Hubert Haupt and Manuel Metzger (all GER) drive the Mercedes-AMG GT3 across the finish line in first place. In the seventh VLN season round, the 58th Reinoldus Langstreckenrennen, the BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA scored the third VLN class victory with the Mercedes-AMG GT4. The trio of Stefan Karg, Fidel Leib and Moritz Oberheim (all GER) finishes the four-hour race in first place of the SP10 class.

The AKKA ASP Team wins the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup title after a thrilling finale with the Mercedes-AMG GT3: with a margin of 7.5 points, Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and Michael Meadows (GBR) secure the prestigious title in the final race at the Nürburgring. The duo having started the final Sprint Cup event equal on points, they went on to claim the title after making great progress with fourth place in the first and victory in the second race. In the race on Sunday, BLACK FALCON drivers Hubert Haupt (GER) and Luca Stolz (GER) finish second to complete the 1-2. The AKKA ASP Team also secures the Blancpain GT Series Silver Cup title with drivers Nico Bastian (GER) and Jack Manchester (GBR). They had already sealed the championship early in the previous round at the Hungaroring.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 shines with top results and an early title win in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup at the Hungaroring: with victory in the second race on Sunday, Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and Michael Meadows (GBR) scored the highlight for the AKKA ASP Team. In the first race on Saturday, the Italian-British duo had already secured second place overall ahead of their teammates Nicolas Jamin (FRA) and Denis Bulatov (RUS). With victory in the Pro-Am class (SunEnergy1 Racing #751) and a lock-out of the first four positions in the Silver Cup (AKKA ASP Team #87, #90, #35 and BLACK FALCON #6), the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Teams completed the day’s success on Saturday. Further successful class results were to follow on Sunday: Jamin and Bulatov as well as Nico Bastian (GER) and Jack Manchester (GBR) finished first and second in the Silver Cup. Thus, Nico Bastian and Jack Manchester were able to celebrate the early Silver Cup title win in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup.

Mercedes-AMG with a 1-2 and Intercontinental GT Challenge championship lead

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport shows a perfect performance in the third season round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge: In the 10-hour race at Suzuka, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 scores a 1-2. In total, five of the seven participating cars from the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach finished in the top ten and thus secured the lead in the manufacturers’ and drivers’ standings. The Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing takes victory from the Mercedes-AMG Team STRAKKA Racing. With their race win, Mercedes-AMG Driver Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and Tristan Vautier (FRA) move up into the lead of the drivers’ standings. Mercedes-AMG brand ambassador Maro Engel (GER) rounds out the victorious trio with starting number 888. Championship lead and podium for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in ADAC GT Masters

A successful weekend for Mercedes-AMG at Zandvoort: in the first race on Saturday, Mercedes-AMG Driver Maximilian Götz (GER) and his teammate Markus Pommer (GER) were already able to take the ADAC GT Masters championship lead with a sixth-place finish. In the process, they also scored further valuable championship points in the teams’ standings for the MANN-FILTER Team HTP Motorsport, which is still leading after the fifth of this season’s seven rounds. In the race on Sunday, Mercedes-AMG Driver Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and Patrick Assenheimer (GER) came to the fore: with second place in the #84 AutoArena Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3, they scored the best result. The first overall win of the VLN season for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport in the 6-hour highlight race: Adam Christodoulou (GBR), Hubert Haupt (GER), Manuel Metzger (GER) and Gabriele Piana (ITA) secure the overall win at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife after a perfect performance with their #6 BLACK FALCON Mercedes-AMG GT3. In qualifying on Saturday morning, Christodoulou had already claimed pole position with his personal best time of 7m55.723s. With second place in the SP10 class, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 scores another podium success in the Green Hell: the car with starting number 163 of the BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA rounds out the successful overall result.
