Mercedes-AMG is facing a hot final stage in the 70th running of the Total 24 Hours of Spa. After 350 laps of the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, two Mercedes-AMG GT3s have good perspectives in the battle for the podium slots with the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON and the #88 Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP cars. The 70th running of the Total 24 Hours of Spa has got off to a turbulent start. For the teams with the Mercedes-AMG GT3s, there were positions gained as well as setbacks. Four hours into the race, the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON entry is the best-placed GT3 from Affalterbach, on course for the top ten. In the Pro-AM cup, the #42 of Customer Racing Team STRAKKA Racing is in the lead. The #89 of Customer Racing Team AKKA ASP Team retired after an accident at Raidillon. The other twelve Mercedes-AMG GT3s are still in the race with good perspectives.

Superpole qualifying for the 70th running of the Total 24 Hours of Spa saw the Mercedes-AMG GT3s secure 14th and 17th place. In the entertaining two-lap showdown of the 20 fastest teams, Maro Engel (GER) came to a time of 2m20.167s in the #4 of the Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON to post the fastest lap time of the cars from Affalterbach. With a time of 2m20.519s, Edoardo Mortara (ITA) ended up in 17th place with the #84 of the Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER. The #88 of the Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP that was also qualified was unable to take part in the session due to an accident during warm-up. Next to the Superpole cars, ten further Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be starting the race tomorrow (Saturday).

In the new four-day qualifying format, three of the 13 Mercedes-AMG GT3s managed to secure a slot for the Superpole shootout. Traditional start of the action for the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race

In summerly temperatures, activities for the 70th running of the Total 24 Hours of Spa got underway with the traditional parade in a great atmosphere. During the prologue in the city centre of Spa, the entire field of competitors presented itself including the 13 Mercedes-AMG GT3 that will be taking on the world’s biggest GT race this weekend. The five teams with the cars from Affalterbach are highly motivated and well prepared prior to the classic endurance race. The Customer Racing Team SMP Racing by AKKA ASP encountered bad luck during the parade: a defective battery led to a fire in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 with starting number #35. A quick intervention by the fire brigade prevented the flames from spreading and kept the damage limited, so that the participation in the race isn’t in jeopardy. Sporting activities at the track get underway on Thursday with free practice at 11.45 hrs.

For the 70th running of the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race, Mercedes-AMG has a presence that is stronger than ever before: the field of 68 cars includes a total of 13 Mercedes-AMG GT3s. Thus, the German performance and sports car brand has the largest entry of all manufacturers. The cars from Affalterbach will be run by six teams with 46 drivers between them to take on the classic endurance race, including some of the highest-ranking names in motorsport. Mercedes-AMG Motorsport is celebrating the next success in the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft: in the fourth round of the season at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, Patrick Assenheimer and Christian Hohenadel (both GER) with the #13 Mercedes-AMG GT3 run by AutoArena Motorsport finished sixth overall and thus secured another top ten result in the Green Hell for the performance brand from Affalterbach. Second place and a double victory in the Silver Cup for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Sprint Cup at Misano

Podium for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in ADAC GT Masters at the Red Bull Ring

After the victory for the MANN-FILTER Team HTP Motorsport in the ADAC GT Masters at Most (CZE), the team also scored a podium finish in the event at the Red Bull Ring (AUT): Maximilian Götz and Markus Pommer (both GER) drove the #47 Mercedes-AMG GT3 to third place in the second race of the meeting on Sunday. Sebastian Asch and Luca Stolz (both GER) showed great progress from 18thplace on the grid and concluded the rain race in fifth place.
